2021-2022
The 2021-2022 school year has been a quiet year for the Fine Arts Boosters. We still have funds remaining and continue to support the fine arts activities as much as possible.

2020-2021
During the 2020-2021 school year, many of the fine arts activities were altered or delayed until spring, due to COVID-19. The marching band's marching season was cancelled. The quiz bowl team competed via Zoom every Monday after school and their home quiz bowl meet, tentatively planned for March, was cancelled. All-State Choir, postponed until April, was also cancelled. The Pops Concert and Dinner Theatre were also cancelled for this year. The Fine Arts Boosters did not do any fundraising for the year, but we continued to support the fine arts with funds remaining from last year.

  • Banners for 11 fine arts seniors
  • Themed team shirts for 18 Quiz Bowl members

2019-2020
During the 2019-2020 school year, we completed a few goals from the previous school year. The stage curtains were replaced over the summer before school started and we also purchased a set of intercom headsets for the drama department to use for plays. The other major purchase was a new low light zoom lens for journalism. They purchased a better camera with their club funds and requested a lens to go with it so they can take better football and play photos. We also supported the visual arts department for the first time this year, by purchasing the framing and matting for five projects that were to be entered in the state visual arts competition.

Our fundraising numbers are lower this year with the stage curtains out of the way. We raised over $1200 from the chili supper and serving super nachos at the home quiz bowl meet, as well as from generous donations. Unfortunately, our planned dinner theatre for Clue On Stage was cancelled due to COVID-19. We opted out of doing concession stands this school year.

The following is what we purchased and supported in 2019-2020:
  • $7000 donation toward the purchase of new stage curtains
  • Casey's pizzas and pop for 25 marching band members at the end of band camp
  • Banners for 11 fine arts seniors
  • Set of 7 intercom headsets and 7 spare batteries for drama tech
  • Flowers for 8 All-State Choir members
  • Themed team shirts for 18 Quiz Bowl members
  • Served free quiz bowl supper meals to the 24 readers/timers at the home meet
  • Low light zoom lens for Journalism
  • $150 toward the purchase of reeds for band students to buy
  • Pizza Ranch pizzas for 50 band and choir students when they performed in Pierre
  • $100 toward Pizza Ranch buffets for 25 espresso choir students on their caroling day
  • Treats for 3 pep band seniors at the Pep Band Senior Night
  • Custom framing/matting for 5 visual arts pieces to compete in the state visual arts competition
  • Dells Theatre gift cards for 16 fine arts seniors
  • $50 private lesson scholarship for 1 music student

2018-2019
During the 2018-19 school year, our focus has been on the future replacement of the aging stage curtains. We have pledged $7000 toward the curtains. (The DRHS 2 Bean or Not 2 Bean Coffee Cart we helped start last year has pledged $1000 of their earnings as well!) We've also worked on a few smaller projects, such as the new marching band banner and quiz bowl shirts.

We added a well-received and very successful dinner theatre for one night of the Grease musical. And, once again, we hosted a successful chili supper with the Pops Concert and served super nachos  to the participants at the home quiz bowl meet.  Other fundraisers include four concession stands, driveway stenciling, and Jazz Fest Parking. So far this year, we have earned $5049 and the following is what we have purchased:
  • New marching band banner for the high school marching band
  • Banners for 11 fine arts seniors
  • Donuts for 33 members of the marching band
  • Themed team shirts for 27 Quiz Bowl members
  • Served free quiz bowl supper meals to readers and timers at the home meet

2017-2018
During the 2017-18 school year, we worked on several projects, including a coffee cart for the drama department to use for their own fundraising, a new camera and lens for the journalism staff, a custom-built percussion cabinet for the bands, as well as custom-made t-shirts for the quiz bowl team and recognition for the seniors in fine arts.

We added a very successful chili supper to the Pops Concert and we served super nachos to seventy-five quiz bowl participants at the DAKXII Quiz Bowl meet. Other fundraisers included two concession stands, driveway stenciling, street dance cleanup, and Jazz Fest parking. We earned over $3200 this year and the following is what we purchased:
  • drycleaning of 33 marching band uniforms
  • banners for 5 fine arts seniors
  • themed team shirts for 24 Quiz Bowl members
